DESCRIPTION OF THE REGION
This protected area is characterized by its extremely high biodiversity and the
interesting interactions among its species. Its entire geomorphology is the product
of the transportation of materials from the Andes by rivers such as the Aguarico river.
The Aguarico river is considered to be a white water river due to the sediments it
carries from the mountains. In the mountains, the river reaches a volume that makes
it navigable all year round.

CUYABENO LODGE
When Cuyabeno Lodge started operating in 1986, Neotropic Turis believed that the rainforest traveler should be hosted in conditions which would be both in harmony with the surrounding environment and attuned with the needs of the modern visitor. Operating as an ethical eco-lodge, we work with local indigenous guides together with bilingual naturalist guides and have a close relationship with the local community, power our dining hall with solar panels and practice environmentally sensitive tourism in all aspects of our programs.
The cabins are airy thatch roof designs spaced through a small opening in pristine Amazon Rainforest and flooded rainforest that for most of the year forms a peaceful glassy lake.
Adjacent to the cabanas is a spacious dining hall which serves up delicious Ecuadorian, Siona and International cuisine.
