BRIEF GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Whales, see them now.....while you can, they are passing the coast!

Isla de la Plata or small Galapagos Islands, this island can be visited departing from Puerto Lopez, wich is now a popular tourist destination, the "Isla de la Plata" situated 40 km northwest of PUERTO LOPEZ. It is surrounded by species like the red and blue boobies, pelicans and gulls. big groups of Dolphins and humpback whales are passing over -migrating- between the months of June and October, making snorkeling a common activity.

The weather in the park is dry most of the year. Entrance fee is 20$ USD. Our Operation includes Machalilla National Park, Isla de la Plata, the archaeological site at Agua Blanca, Los Frailes beach and the archaelogical museum at Salango. Isla de la Plata is perhaps the main attraction; its sparse dry vegetation and fauna give it some of the characteristics of the Galapagos Islands. You'll see frigate and tropic birds and be able to walk trough the 2 Trails for 4 hours among masked, blue, and red-footed boobies and typical vegetation. Albatrosses and sea lions are seasonal as with whale watching (july-sept ).
