Sumaco National Park

This park is one of the newest and most untraveled in Ecuador. The most common way of visiting the Park is to hike the Sumaco volcano rising from the jungle. This is one of the country's unknown volcanoes due to its remote densely-forested location. Much of the area has escaped developmental impacts and it is challenging to travel in the area. This hike calls for you experts wanting to test yourself. Itinerary / Yuturi

4 nights(mondays to Friday)

Day 1
fly from Quito to Coca. Transfer to a motor canoe and navigation along the impressive Napo and Yuturi rivers. You arrive shortly before dusk. A night hike around the Paraguaco lagoon to observe nocturnal animals completes the day´s activities.

Day 2
Get up eraly. Canoe trip through the Yuturi lagoon to observe transition between the land vegetation to the aquatic, and the diversity of birds (nearly 500 species have been found).Afterwards, canoe trip along the Manduro lagoon, and natural hike through the rain forest to observe the exhuberant vegetation, some plants and the diversity of aquatic birds. In the afternoon piranha fishing. Night walk to observe caimans.

Day 3
Morning walk by the way of Huaorani Yuturi to observe many plants and animals, then visit to the indian community Samona Yuturi to learn about their traditions . In the afternoon native guides will show how to use a blowgun and possibly to weave baskets using local fibers. visit to the Chorongo Island (Monkeys Island) to observe monkeys.

Day 4
Starts with an adventure walk (about 3 hours) to see medicinal plants and learn from the guides how they have been used traditionally. Observation of birdlife: caciques , toucans, parrots, iguans , and the forest: orchid , bromelias, palms , lians, and large diversity of insects. In the afternoon visit to the canopy Tower.

Day 5
Early departure to Coca by motorized canoe to take the flight back to Coca

** RESERVA ECOLÓGICA YARINA**

UBICACIÓN:
La R. E. Yarina está ubicada a 25 Km en línea recta desde la ciudad de Puerto Francisco de Orellana (El Coca). Nuestras canoas a motor realizan un recorrido fluvial de una hora por el río Napo hasta el Yarina lodge.

CARACTERÍSTICAS DEL LODGE:
- 20 cabañas múltiples (simples, dobles, triples y cuádruples) con baño privado.
- Todas las cabañas están construidas con materiales típicos de la zona.
- Se provee agua las 24 horas del día en los baños. El agua se la obtiene de un pozo (20 metros de profundidad).
- Se provee electricidad a través de un generador a diesel, desde las 18H00 hasta las 22H00 (110V.)
- Cada cabaña está equipada con camas (con mosquitero), hamaca, ropero, velador y una lampara.
- Cada baño esta equipado con lavamanos, ducha, espejo, inodoro, toalla, jabón y papel higiénico.
- Con vista hacia un pequeño río se ubica una cabaña grande donde el pasajero encontrará el comedor, bar y una sala de descanso.
- Ofrecemos comida variada, si el pasajero es vegetariano ofrecemos comida vegetariana. - Nuestro personal de limpieza se encarga de arreglar y limpiar las cabañas todos los días.
- Para conocimiento y seguridad del pasajero además de ser una regla de la compañía; la administración posee una caja de seguridad para guardar joyas, dinero, pasaporte o cualquier pertenencia que el pasajero considere necesario y/o de valor.
RESUMEN DE ACTIVIDADES:

- Caminatas cortas de 4 horas aprox. Oportunidad de observar plantas medicinales, aves, animales.
- Visita a la Torre de Observación de Aves (45 metros de altura).
- Observación de técnicas y materiales usados por los indígenas para el lavado de oro.
- Pesca de pirañas 1 ½ horas aprox. Recorrido en canoa por la laguna.
- Practica con la Cerbatana o Bodoquera. 1 hora aprox.
- Recorrido nocturno en canoa 1 ½ aprox. Oportunidad para observar caimanes, reptiles y aves nocturnas.
- Visita a una familia indígena Quichua del Oriente (Samona Yuturi). Aprenderemos sus costumbres y tradiciones.
- Caminata nocturna. Observación de la vida nocturna de la selva

RESERVA ECOLÓGICA YARINA

ITINERARIO DÍA POR DÍA
TODO PASAJERO RECIBIRÁ LAS ACTIVIDADES DE ACUERDO AL DÍA Y HORA DE INGRESO Y SALIDA QUE HAYA COMPRADO.
LUNES:
Una vez en coca tomaremos una canoa pequeña para dirigirnos por el río Manduro hacía la laguna de Sapococha. Caminaremos alrededor de la laguna deleitándonos con los sonidos de aves, anfibios, animales, además de aprender acerca de varios tipos de plantas acuáticas. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo.
Por la tarde visitaremos el Sendero Socali, caracterizado por la variedad de terrenos selváticos que cruza. Este Sendero es utilizado como vía de introducción hacia el bosque primario. Retorno al lodge; Cena y Alojamiento.
MARTES:
Después del desayuno nos dirigiremos hacia el Sendero Capibara, el mismo que nos llenará de aventura al atravesar sus terrenos pantanosos caracterizados por alojar a un amplio número de palmas que no se observan e ningún otro tipo de terreno. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo.

Por la tarde dejaremos a un lado nuestras botas de caucho y ropa de excursión para en shorts y camiseta (recomendado) tomar una pequeña canoa y disfrutar de una agradable pesca de pirañas. Después de la cena si la noche está predispuesta saldremos a un paseo en canoa para observar caimanes.

Antecediendo a esta actividad nuestros guías mostrarán al grupo el uso del arma más destacada de la amazonía “La cerbatana o bodoquera”. Retorno al lodge; cena y alojamiento.

MIERCOLES:
Desayuno. Nos equiparemos para caminar. Tomaremos una canoa y navegaremos río arriba adentrándonos en la selva deleitándonos con la observación de mariposas, orquídeas, anfibios, todo esto hasta llegar al sendero Dos Ramas en el cual realizaremos una pequeña caminata para aprender más acerca de plantas medicinales, aves y animales. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo.

Por la tarde tomaremos el sendero Tucán que nos llevará hacia una de las Torres de Observación más altas de la amazonía. Al arribo a la torre permaneceremos en su mirador observando una amplia variedad de aves de altura. Retorno al lodge; cena y alojamiento.

JUEVES:
Luego del desayuno tomaremos la canoa a motor y nos dirigiremos fuera de los limites de la reserva para visitar una familia indígena de la comunidad Quichua del Oriente. Nuestros guías instruirán al grupo acerca de las costumbres, tradiciones y forma de vida de esta comunidad. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo.

Por la tarde nos equiparemos para caminar y visitaremos el sendero de los Guatusos, sitio en el cual tendremos una nueva oportunidad para aprender a través de nuestros guías la utilización de algunas plantas dentro de la cultura indígena, a más de poder deleitarnos con los sonidos de las aves , insectos y animales. Retorno al lodge para la cena y alojamiento.

VIERNES:
Luego del desayuno caminaremos selva adentro hacia un pequeño río rodeado de piedras, arena, arcilla y otros elementos. En este sitio los guías enseñarán al grupo los instrumentos y técnicas usadas por los indígenas para el lavado de oro. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo. Desayuno (06H30)

Por la tarde nos equiparemos para caminar y visitaremos el sendero de los Guatusos, sitio en el cual tendremos una nueva oportunidad para aprender a través de nuestros guías la utilización de algunas plantas dentro de la cultura indígena, a más de poder deleitarnos con los sonidos de las aves , insectos y animales. Retorno al lodge para la cena y alojamiento.

SABADO:
Después del desayuno nos dirigiremos hacia el Sendero Capibara, el mismo que nos llenará de aventura al atravesar sus terrenos pantanosos caracterizados por alojar a un amplio número de palmas que no se observan e ningún otro tipo de terreno. Retorno al lodge para el almuerzo

In the eastern skirts of the Andes Mountains and on the shore of Ecuador's Napo River, one can find Ahuano, a small but growing Quichua Indian village. It was here in this Amazon hamlet that Swiss expatriate Beny Ammeter decided to open a general store in 1985. In those days, when foreign travelers found their way to Ahuano and needed a place to stay, they were inevitably directed to "La Casa del Suizo": The Swiss Man's House. Happy to receive visitors from afar, Beny warmly welcomed them into his home. Within a short time, his residence became so popular that he decided to construct several cabins to better accommodate the steady flow of travelers. This was the beginning of La Casa del Suizo, which today offers first class accommodations and international fame.

Location

La Casa del Suizo is accessible by road and river, beginning in Ecuador`s capital city, Quito. During the drive down the mountain, in one morning, the scenery magically transforms from the Andes snow-covered peaks into the lush rainforest of the Amazon. Tours

Each morning our guests may trek, paddle and swing through the lush, primary rainforest which surrounds the Lodge. The native guides posses vast knowledge of the diverse local fauna and flora, as well as the medicinal uses of many plants.
A variety of activities are available: One of our hikes ends with a balsa raft adventure down the Napo river and back to the Hotel.
Our guests may also visit a local Quichua Village, where one can watch amazing blowpipe demonstrations and the preparation of chicha, a local alcoholic beverage.
Most outings end at noon and guests are brought back to the hotel for lunch. However, for those activities that last all day box lunches will be provided.
